Hospitality & Event Facilities

EDC specializes in design and design/build projects that require the audio and video element as a highlight of the visitor’s experience.

The Chambers

A luxury fine art hotel located in downtown Minneapolis.

Electronic Design provided audio and video design and installation services. The design incorporated a flexible audio distribution system that supports both foreground and background music for all areas in which sound and speech reinforcement is required by the space. This allows the space to provide audio as either a focal point or a complement to the surroundings, depending on use.

The rooms in which audio was provided include:

  • The Ice Chamber Outdoor Lounge
  • Chambers Kitchen (the main hotel restaurant)
  • Main Hotel Bar
  • Roof Top Lounge
  • Art Gallery
  • Ballroom and Meeting Room Areas
  • Hotel Common Areas
The system provides control of audio — both source and level — for each of the above locations.
The sources include local inputs, including microphones in the art gallery, ballrooms and meeting
room areas. Facility-wide sources such as DVD players, satellite radio and programmed audio
are available to all the locations. A wide variety of speaker types and brands are used in each
space for best possible sound reproduction with minimal aesthetic impact.

Westin Minneapolis

An historic restoration of a bank built in 1941, located in downtown Minneapolis.

This was a design/build project in which we worked from a basic Starwood specification and adapted it to meet the requirements of the space. This project required flexible audio distribution and control along with a particularly challenging restaurant/bar featuring a 34-foot vaulted ceiling.

The rooms in which audio was provided include:

  • The Bank (the hotel restaurant)
  • Private Dining Rooms
  • 1 of 3
  • Boardrooms and Meeting Rooms
  • Pool
  • Fitness Room
  • Common Areas

The system provides control of audio both source and level for each of the above locations. The sources include local inputs, including microphones in the meeting rooms and boardroom areas. Facility-wide sources such as DVD players, satellite radio and Westin programmed audio are available to all the locations. A wide variety of speaker types and brands are used in each space for best possible sound reproduction with minimal aesthetic impact. The boardrooms include fixed ceiling-mounted projectors and powered ceiling-mounted screens. Interactive mobile presentation systems were provided for use in rooms without installed systems.

Mystic Lake

A casino, hotel, and conference center located 30 miles southwest of downtown Minneapolis.

This was a multiphase design and installation project that included audio and video for many different types of rooms
including meeting rooms, restaurants, recently remodeled lobby and golf course club house. Additionally, we are currently in the process of doing design work for the remodeling of the adjacent Little Six Casino.

Coralville Marriot Hotel and Conference Center

Located on lushly landscaped grounds along the Iowa River, Coralville Marriott Hotel  & Conference Center is located adjacent to The University of Iowa.

Electronic Design did all of the design and commissioning for the facility’s audio and video systems.

The rooms in which audio and video were provided include:

  • 60,000 square feet of event and meeting space
  • Restaurant
  • River Bar
  • Pool
  • Health Club
This design and installation includes extensive use of intuitive touch-sensitive control panels for audio, video
and lighting control throughout the conference center. The flexible routing of audio allows multiple rooms to be
combined or separated as the facility requires.

Minneapolis Marriott City Center

A business conference hotel located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis.

We recently upgraded the audio systems in a 30,000 square foot meeting and event space. This space includes audio, video and lighting control via wall-mounted touch sensitive screens. This control allows the management to easily combine and separate rooms, as well as to route audio source and level.

Bloomington Hilton

Located in the Twin Cities suburb of Bloomington, Minnesota.

With a full array of amenities, this Bloomington hotel is ideal for both business and leisure travelers. We designed and installed an audio system that supports flexible routing of audio throughout the facility.

The hotel spaces included in this design are:

  • Lobby and Common Areas
  • Restaurant
  • Lounge and Lobby Bar
  • Ball Room
  • Meeting Rooms
  • Board Rooms
  • Pool
  • Outside patio

The system provides control of audio — both source and level — for each of the above locations. The sources include local inputs, including microphones in the ballrooms, boardrooms and meeting room areas. Facility-wide sources such as DVD players, satellite radio and programmed audio are available to all the locations. A wide variety of speaker types and brands are used in each space for best possible sound reproduction with minimal aesthetic impact.
